October Gallery presents a special conversation with James Barnor, the acclaimed photographer whose pioneering work has helped shape the history of African photography. In discussion with curator Eleri Fanshawe, Barnor will reflect on a remarkable career spanning more than six decades and share insights into the images that have established him as one of the most influential photographers of his generation. From his groundbreaking photojournalism for the Daily Graphic to his iconic work for Drum magazine in 1960s London, Barnor’s photographs capture defining moments in modern history.
This special event will explore the stories behind the works in the exhibition, offering collectors and photography enthusiasts a rare opportunity to gain insight into Barnor’s artistic vision and enduring legacy. The talk will take place on the ground floor of the gallery and has disabled access. The exhibition Poetic Threads is open from 2nd July - 15th August 2026.
