Make More Visible, explores Adam Shield's interest in South-East London, specifically Woolwich and his studio on the Thames Path, downstream of the Barrier where the river meets the storm drains. A chain-like mural provides a backdrop to 15 paintings and creates an environment for a new sound piece, all of which examine the spaces behind the city’s visible surfaces, from construction sites and industrial landscapes to artists’ studios. ‘South London is always reforming and reconstituting itself, and the hoarding is the membrane that reformation hides behind.’ His work reveals a city in constant transformation, where overlooked histories and infrastructures continue to evolve and become more visible.
