Overview

In Our Hands marks the opening of Arcade’s new space with an exhibition as manifesto, exploring how art can orient us, build solidarities, and shape the futures we want to live in. Featuring works by Fred Dewey, Millwall Community Trust (Robbie Howells), Anna Barham, Luca Bertolo, Chiara Camoni, Clive Hodgson, Company Drinks, Jeremiah Day, Can Altay, Marijke De Roover, Aaron Hughes, Bontyanak, Quince Garcia/Roadworks Media, and the Artist Placement Group, the exhibition reflects a belief in creativity as action: speculative, relational, and socially engaged.

Highlights include a new entrance installation by Peggy Franck, APG’s original manifesto, agitprop posters by Aaron Hughes, communal ceramics by Chiara Camoni, wearable works by Quince Garcia, and a reading area with texts by Fred Dewey, Naomi Klein, Kate Raworth, and Jessica Bruder. In Our Hands is both exhibition and public statement; a collective proposition that culture is not handed down but made together, through grassroots effort, shared imagination, and mutual care.
