Chisenhale Lates: The Gramounce

25 Mar 2023 7-8.30pm

Chisenhale Gallery
London E3 5QZ

Overview

What fruits might an artist's work bear? In response to Ravelle Pillay's exhibition Idyll at Chisenhale Gallery, her interest in cooking as an artistic practice and the history of botanical gardens, artists Inês Neto dos Santos and Nora Silva (aka The Gramounce) host a communal feast at the gallery as an original creative enquiry into the work.

Positioning themselves amidst the lush, vegetal landscapes of Pillay's paintings, where leaves drip, puddles form, and banana, taro and jackfruit trees abound, The Gramounce invite you to imagine what it might be like to live, breathe and eat within them.

The Gramounce is a collective researching contemporary politics through art and food. Founder and Co-Director of The Gramounce, Nora Silva is a Spanish-Chilean researcher and artist based in London and Madrid. Co-Director, Inês Neto dos Santos is an artist, researcher and educator born in Lisbon and based in London/Brussels.
