Overview

Okiki Akinfe joins writer, curator and art historian Alayo Akinkugbe for a discussion on Akinfe’s work and the ideas presented in her new commission at Peer. The conversation will explore the development of the works in the exhibition, and will examine Akinfe’s ongoing engagement with themes of memory, class, identity, and place.

Alayo Akinkugbe is an independent writer and curator. She is the author of Reframing Blackness and the founder of A Black History of Art, a platform highlighting Black artists, sitters, curators and thinkers from art history and the present day. Akinkugbe has worked with institutions and contributed to publications internationally and is also the host of the podcast, A Shared Gaze.
