Overview
A new film installation co-created by Whitechapel Gallery’s youth collective Duchamp & Sons and artist Maz Murray takes over the gallery’s Assembly Room this February half term.
Developed over a five-month period of playful experimentation, conversation, and collective snacking, this new film work represents the culmination of the group’s collaboration with Murray and draws from histories of cinema, visual storytelling and DIY film techniques.
Through a satirical lens the film subverts tropes about artists in the context of the housing crisis and increasing restrictions on protest. Wacky news reports, miniature sets and audio soundscapes combine to explore the difficulties facing young artists today.
