Overview

Please note that this is a two-part workshop series with sessions taking place on Saturday 23 and 30 November from 10am - 12pm. One ticket covers both sessions.

This workshop series is intended for people with some knowledge of 3D software, audio editing and the transfer of data from device to device.

Artist, musician, developer and educator James B Stringer leads a series of two intermediate workshops exploring the real-time creative possibilities of the video game engine Unreal Engine 5, and how its video game development tools might be used within a fine art practice.

Workshop 1 - Breakables Gallery
Date: 23 November 2024, 10am - 12pm

Participants will create a destructible virtual exhibition in Unreal Engine 5 using photogrammetry, learning how to create and import their own 3D assets, set up basic materials, and experiment with the physics engine to break and fracture 3D objects.

Workshop 2 - Attenuation
Date: 30 November 2024, 10am - 12pm

Participants will record audio for use in creating an unearthly musical instrument in Unreal Engine 5, learning practical sound recording techniques, then import and play your recordings in Unreal Engine, where you will interact with the audio.
