Displays, Object Encounters & Conservation Overlook

31 May 2025-1 Jan 2026

V&A East
London E20 3AX

Overview

V&A East Storehouse is a working museum store that’s open for you to explore. The building has been designed to get you closer than ever before to objects in the V&A collection and the behind-the-scenes work of the museum.

The central Weston Collections Hall is the centrepiece of a public route across three floors, reaching a height of over 20 metres. In the centre of the Collections Hall there is a section of glass flooring with a view of the Agra Colonnade and working store below.

Each level has public walkways enabling you to explore more of the collection and see the museum at work. The walkways are a minimum of 1.6 metres wide with a metal grid floor and glass balustrades, allowing you to see all the way down to the ground floor below. If you’d like to see what the space looks like in advance of your visit, see our visual story.

We recommend wearing practical clothing and flat shoes. The metal grid flooring is not suitable for stilettos or kitten heels.

You will see staff working around you and as working storehouse it may be noisy. They might be using equipment to move objects or leading an Object Encounter.

Our Visitor Experience team will be here to welcome you and to answer any questions you have during your visit.

At busy times, for your safety we may need to ask you to queue to enter.
