Overview
'Nothing Lasts Forever' explores and reflects upon key bodies of work from Peter Mitchell's remarkable career as one of the twentieth century's most important colour photographers.
Mitchell is best known for his photographs of Leeds through the 1970s and 1980s and this retrospective includes photographs from across the decades including the pioneering 'A New Refutation of the Viking 4 Space Mission', photographs capturing the demise of the Quarry Hill Flats, the otherwordly Yorkshire Scarecrows as well as newly discovered works and objects from the artist's personal collection.
This exhibition marks nearly half a century since Mitchell's first exhibition at Leeds City Art Gallery in 1975 and is accompanied with a new publication 'Nothing Lasts Forever' by RRB Photobooks.
