Overview

For Duart Bel Silva (Unit 5, Studio 5-228) lockdown "felt featureless: a long drift in an open boat, in a fog. All structure suspended - time unspooled. Unable to access the studio, the alienating sense of ‘absence’ resulted in work very simply made, with whatever materials were available, at home - paper, some paints retrieved (in a 16km round foot trip), from the studio at the start of lockdown, charcoal, blades. The Lockdown and Repeat series seem to attest to my need for structure, the urge to mark time - scratches on a wall, to identify the days."
