The work of Romanian painter Adrian Ghenie (b.1977) demonstrates an enduring fascination with European history, addressed through ideas relating to memory, trauma and extremism in the 20th century. He has had recent solo exhibitions at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest and the SMAK in Ghent. In 2012 he will exhibit at the MCA in Denver.
