Overview

The Nabi Shock comes to Waddington Custot's London space this summer, following its inaugural run at the gallery's newly opened Paris location. The exhibition brings together around twenty works by the leading figures of the Nabi movement, among them Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Paul Sérusier and Edouard Vuillard, drawing on Waddington Custot's long-recognised expertise in this strand of European modernism. These works are presented alongside pieces by contemporary artists including Ian Davenport, Anne Rothenstein, Marcel Dzama and François Réau, foregrounding the striking resonance of the Nabi aesthetic, in which colour, rhythm and interiority remain the driving forces.
