Siân Bowen and Nova Zembla : Suspending the Ephemeral

Overview

Siân Bowen will show a selection of the works on paper and a video made while she was Guest Artist in Drawing at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, 2010 – 2011. I n these recent works, she responds to the objects found frozen on the Russian island of Nova Zembla in a winter refuge where William Barent left them in 1596 during his expedition through the Arctic. The catalogue "Siân Bowen and Nova Zembla: Suspending the Ephemeral", published by RGAP, to accompany the exhibition at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam in 2012 will be presented on Thursday 7 February 2013 from 2pm in the presence of the artist.
