Overview

Iniva presents new work by contemporary Chinese artists Lu Chunsheng and Jia Aili. Both are drawn to subjects of industrial progress and social corrosion. Lu Chunsheng shows his new film, The first man who bought a juicer bought it not for drinking juice, for the first time in Europe. This absorbing film mixes documentary and fantasy to theatrical effect. It examines the relationship between man and machine. Jia Aili presents Make Believe..., the artist's first solo exhibition in Europe. Monumental paintings reflect on the human condition and the individual's vulnerability in a rapidly developing world. The artist has also created a remarkable installation painted directly on to the vast front window of Rivington Place. It is inspired by famous painting The Incredulity of St Thomas by Caravaggio.
