5 Jun 2026 7.30-8.45pm

Sarabande Foundation
London N1 5SH

Overview

Anne Imhof is one of the most influential artists of her generation, known for works that bring together performance, image-making, music, and architecture into intensely choreographed environments. Across live works, exhibitions, and paintings, her practice explores presence, tension, intimacy, and collective experience.

Imhof was awarded the Golden Lion for Best National Participation at the 57th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia for Faust (2017), presented at the German Pavilion. In 2025, she premiered DOOM at the Park Avenue Armory in New York, her most expansive performance work to date and a major development in her engagement with choreography and large-scale theatrical form. Imhof has held solo exhibitions at Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin (2016); Tate Modern, London (2019); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2021); Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2022); Kunsthaus Bregenz (2024); and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto (2025). On June 4 the artist’s solo presentation Citizen opens at Sprüth Magers London and will be on view through August 1, 2026.

She will be joined in conversation by Catherine Wood, Acting Director of Tate Modern.
