Young Masters ‘Line of Beauty’ Finissage Reception | Cristina Schek & Alexandra Baraitser

30 Apr 2026 6.30-9.30pm

Cynthia Corbett Gallery
London .

Overview

Presented by Young Masters Art Prize, Line of Beauty brings together award-winning artists Cristina Schek and Alexandra Baraitser in the distinctive Georgian setting of The Exhibitionist Hotel, South Kensington, just 5 minutes from the V&A and recently spotlighted by the museum.

Young Masters People’s Choice Award is a special honour shaped by public support and admiration. This exhibition celebrates First Prize winner Cristina Schek and Second Prize winner Alexandra Baraitser, whose distinct practices explore portraiture, imagination, interiority, architecture and memory.

Rather than unfolding in a traditional white cube gallery, the exhibition moves through the hotel’s richly atmospheric interiors, placing contemporary works in dialogue with architecture, history, and the cultural memory of South Kensington. A hotel is a liminal space, part stage, part salon, part dream corridor, and here it changes the way we encounter the works: more intimately, more unexpectedly and with a heightened sense of context.

This finissage marks the grand finale of the exhibition and a final chance to celebrate with the artists.

About the artists:
Cristina Schek is a Transylvanian Surrealist based in London whose conceptual digital works explore identity, illusion, and representation through layered visual narratives shaped by literature, cinema, and art history. In 2025 she was awarded First Prize in the Young Masters People’s Choice Award and received a Highly Commended recognition from the Rudolph Blume Foundation Acquisition Award.

Alexandra Baraitser is a painter based between Cambridge and London whose saturated, quietly heightened paintings transform everyday interiors and architectural forms into scenes of subtle unreality. She was awarded Second Prize in the 2025 Young Masters People’s Choice Award and was also People’s Choice Award Winner and Highly Commended for the Young Masters Women’s Art Award (2025).
