Kerry Louise Bennett: This Must Be the Place
27 Mar-9 May 2026
Working from her home studio, Bennett creates bold, colour-rich paintings that reimagine the small, often overlooked moments of the everyday. Her semi-abstract still lifes and interior scenes draw on memory, observation and imagination, weaving together pattern, texture and storytelling into playful yet carefully composed works.
With a background spanning photography, upholstery and writing, Bennett brings a distinctive sensitivity to surface and structure. A flattened perspective and intuitive use of colour lend the paintings a sense of rhythm and order, transforming familiar objects and rituals into something luminous and quietly celebratory.
Reflecting on her work, Bennett explains:
“As someone who is rather introverted and drawn to the comforts of home, I’m fascinated by the small domestic rituals, objects and moments that at first seem unremarkable, yet linger in the corner of your eye — like a touchstone for that sense of ‘home’ we all carry with us.”
Both vibrant and contemplative, these paintings invite viewers to pause and consider the comfort, intimacy and emotional resonance found within everyday spaces.
All works are for sale.
