Why might it be interesting to compare an artist with a factory worker? This exhibition explores themes of creativity and repetition, individuality and mass production, personal expression and functional output. It highlights the transformative nature of labour and how it compares in the artist’s studio and the factory.
Sarah Horton is an artist and Reader in Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts, UK. Her research field is fine art practice often focusing on repetitive gestures, pattern, and decoration as tools for questioning class, labour and site. Projects include interventions to various workplaces, for example, the factory or office. Recent publications include Pattern and Chaos in Art, Science and Everyday Life co-edited with Victoria Mitchell.
