Performance Lecture: ‘The Glass Essays’

13 Feb 2026 7-8.30pm

LUX
London N19 5JF

Overview

Join us at LUX for an intimate evening performance of ‘The Glass Essays’, an expanded live exploration of River Yuhao Cao’s recent film of the same name. Exploring lamentation in regional Chinese cultures –particularly the mobile funeral stage-truck– the event opens a shared space where individual memory meets collective resonance.

The evening will weave together a guided walk*, live mourning performances, a performance lecture and a screening of ‘The Glass Essays’(2025). Through hums and musical gestures, mourning and tremor emerge as intertwined forces–fluid, sonic and communal.

*The night walk will take place only if weather permits.
