1525: Animating Stories
7 Jan 2026 4-6pm
Expanding upon the skills developed in our Painting Stories workshop, this session with artist Woosun Choi explores movement and the expressive potential of form within animation.
Through the process of frame-by-frame drawing, you will study motion, rhythm, and transformation — learning how to bring still images to life through observation and hand-drawn sequences.
We will be working on paper rather than digitally to encourage a tactile awareness of drawing, developing both patience and sensitivity to visual rhythm.
Workshop Highlights:
Introduction to the principles of frame-by-frame animation (timing and spacing)
Observing and interpreting movement through drawing
Creating sequential images on paper
Expressing emotion and narrative through minimal movement
Developing awareness of rhythm and continuity in visual storytelling
