rarescale: Sounds Strangely Good, Ya?

17 Dec 2025 6-7.30pm

Nottingham Contemporary
Nottingham NG1 2GB

Overview

We are delighted to be collaborating with East Midlands chamber ensemble rarescale to present a series of musical performances responding to the artworks of I Gusti Ayu Kadek Murniasih in our current exhibition Feels Strangely Good, Ya?. Each performance will feature free improvisation, new works composed especially for the ensemble, and at least one premiere performance, with a focus on music by living composers.

For this performance, Carla Rees (flutes) and Amy Jolly (cello) will return to present new works, including pieces by David Gorton and Ellen Sargen, as well as improvisations inspired by our current exhibition. There are three sessions that are roughly 20 mins long.

This event is supported by rarescale and the Frances Routh Trust.
