Overview

 We are pleased to present Fluid Forms and Resonance, a collection of paintings exploring playful abstraction. Guided by instinct rather than prescription, Clive Gray’s paintings introduce a world of intuition, colour, and movement. 

Central to Gray’s practice is an exploratory sense of play, creating an open-ended mode of inquiry, allowing abstraction to freely invoke emotional and instinctual responses - not one of premeditated design but of intuitive dialogue. Rather than offering closure, each painting attempts to resonate with shifting moods and personal associations. 

Gray’s paintings emerge through a process of discovery - marks are laid down, revised, and re-imagined until rhythm and emotion find a sense of balance. His approach is at once both spontaneous and attuned, revealing an ongoing dialogue between structure and improvisation. Through bold colours and fluid compositions, he captures the energy of the moment, allowing thoughts and feelings to become visible. The viewer is encouraged to engage without constraint - to look, feel, and interpret from within their own emotional register.

Fluid Forms and Resonance ultimately reflects Gray’s belief that art should provoke a visceral response - whether it’s joy, tension, or nostalgia. Echoing the human experience in its most unguarded state. Through his fluid mark-making and sense of composition, Gray captures delicate harmonies that exist between spontaneity and reflection, creating works that pulse with immediacy yet linger with contemplative depth.
