Green Breeze

6 Nov-11 Nov 2025

67 York Street Gallery
London W1H 1QB

Overview

67 York Street Gallery presents a watercolour exhibition by Hyunia Jung, whose delicate botanical works capture the quiet vitality of the natural world. Specialising in plants and flora, Jung's practice is rooted in her lifelong passion for gardening and close observation of nature.

From childhood memories of being captivated by lily of the valley at age six to her current practice of sketching and walking barefoot through gardens, Jung's work emerges from an intimate relationship with the plant kingdom. Her approach is contemplative yet dynamic, observing how plants—seemingly peaceful on the surface—are ceaselessly striving beneath the soil, working to grow and blossom before winter arrives.

Jung reflects: "They are like humans. They also have arrived on this beautiful planet with their dreams to fulfil. I want to capture their vitality, energy and delicate beauty under sunlight and green breezes, while preserving a sense of tranquility."

Through her characteristic technique of numerous brushstrokes, vivid colour expressions, and lively Indian ink penlines, Jung conveys the emotions and atmosphere she experiences in gardens. Her works balance the serene beauty of flora with an underlying sense of determination and life force, revealing the parallels between botanical growth and human aspiration.

The exhibition invites viewers to experience the freshness, loveliness, and green vitality that Jung discovers in her garden observations, offering a moment of connection with the natural world's delicate yet resilient spirit.
