Warhol Unmasked: Art, Identity & Reinvention (1968 – 1987)

23 Oct 2025 1-2pm

Lightbox Gallery
Woking, Surrey GU21 4AA

Overview

Beginning with the 1968 shooting that nearly ended his life, this talk follows Andy Warhol through the final two decades of his career — a period marked by change, reflection, and reinvention. From glamorous society portraits to political commentary and religious imagery, Warhol’s later work reveals surprising depth. His extensive use of photography — from candid Polaroids to studio shots — became central to both his process and public image. Covering collaborations with Jean-Michel Basquiat and his final Last Supper series, we explore how Warhol remained relevant, influential, and enigmatic until his death in 1987.

Doors for the Talk open at 12:30.

Entry to the exhibition on the same day, included in talk ticket price.
