Screening and Conversation: ‘How Much Air Lungs Can Hold’
7 Jun 2025 6-8pm

As part of Isabel Barfod’s exhibition ‘How Much Air Lungs Can Hold’ at LUX, we are organising a gathering centred around water, memory, and the spaces we claim together.
We will begin with a screening of the film, followed by an open conversation facilitated by Isabel Barfod and Sandra Jean Pierre. Through gentle prompts, this informal discussion invites participants to reflect and respond with words, gestures, or simply presence. We welcome those who are interested in exploring themes of embodiment and collective reflection while addressing the broader systemic exclusions from public and aquatic spaces.
This gathering is intended to centre the lived experiences and voices of Black people and people of colour. LUX values the principles of allyship and asks for your support in honouring the purpose of this space — to foster a culturally affirming and safer community. With this in mind, we kindly request that attendance be reserved for Black people and people of colour.
This event adheres to LUX’s commitment to equity in the arts in prioritising Black people and people of colour participation as an intentional step toward fostering a more inclusive community.
If you are interested in joining the gathering, please sign up via Eventbrite.
