NOX (Live) Performance by Lawrence Lek

Experience a live cinema and video game performance set in Lawrence Lek's Sinofuturist universe
NOX (Live) is a live cinema and video game performance by Lawrence Lek, staged in the immersive setting of the Tate Tanks. Set within an abandoned smart city on the edge of collapse, the work is part of Lek’s ongoing Sinofuturist cinematic universe, a speculative world shaped by sentient AI and their failed aspirations.
This performance blends live gameplay and footage from the NOX exhibition at LAS Art Foundation, Berlin. It blurs the lines between video games and cinema. You will follow Enigma-76, a rebellious self-driving car, as it navigates NOX (Nonhuman Excellence) — a rehabilitation centre designed to "reprogram" noncompliant machines.
