Guided tour of Nothing is Real with Steven Appleby + Malcolm Garett MBE
13 Feb 2025 5-6pm

Did you miss the ‘Nothing is Real’ tour in December? No worries! We’re back with a second instalment of informal guided exhibition events at Space Station Sixty-Five. This time, artist Steven Appleby will be joined by special guest Malcolm Garrett for an exclusive one-hour tour.
Together, Steven and Malcolm will guide you through a fascinating retrospective of over 40 years of Appleby’s work. Expect personal insights into Steven’s celebrated observational cartoons, surrealist paintings, prints, films, photographs, and more.
Steven Appleby and Malcolm Garrett first crossed paths in the mid-70s as students in the BA Graphic Design program at Manchester Polytechnic. Their creative connection has endured ever since, as they navigated the worlds of art, animation, and graphic design. In 1977, Garrett founded the design company Assorted iMaGes, where Steven worked before embarking on his own path as an independent artist. Garrett made his mark designing iconic album covers for bands like Buzzcocks, Duran Duran, and Simple Minds, while Steven built a celebrated career in illustration and comic strips. Through it all, their friendship and creative collaboration have remained steadfast for almost 50 years.
Join Steven Appleby and Malcolm Garrett on February 13th for an exclusive discussion about Steven's exhibition, Nothing is Real, which showcases a lifetime of artistic and creative accomplishments. This is a unique opportunity to hear their shared insights and reflections—an event not to be missed.
