Fabulous Creatures: Women Between Reality and Myth

9 May 2024

The Hellenic Centre
London W1U 5AS

Overview

What does it mean to be labelled a monster?

What does it mean to live in a world which shames, excludes and vilifies you?

And what if the monster is not who you’ve always thought it to be?

Join the creators of Greek Myths and Women Monsters, the new music-theatre show rethinking revenge, justice, destiny, as they discuss these questions at the Hellenic Centre, on the occasion of their new play at the Arcola Theatre in London.

The talk explores the never before told story of the female monsters of The Odyssey, blending humour and darkness, myth and modernity and raising questions on stereotyping and bias.

Theatre Director Emily Louizou is in conversation with the play’s Executive Producer Elizabeth Filippouli.
