Performance by Theresa Nelson - MA Performance: Politics and Social Justice
This is a live and visual performance of the Freeing of “Idia”; an exquisite African Benin mask, which was looted in the Benin Expedition of 1897. The mask is a sculptural portrait of Idia, the first Iyoba (Queen Mother) of the 16th century Benin Empire.
