Overview

Introduction and Q&A with Gita Aslani Shahrestani, filmmaker and daughter of director, Mohammad Reza Aslani.

Denounced at its premier for its critique of social stratification, and banned for its representations of women and homosexuality by the coming of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, CHESS OF THE WIND disappeared from view and was considered lost until reels were discovered in a Tehran junk shop by the director's son. It was restored by the World Cinema Project founded by Martin Scorsese.
