Leftovers - a group for reading otherwise

9 Jul 2023 2-4pm

TACO!

Overview

In response to the film Wendy by Frances Scott and Chu-Li Shewring.  Leftovers - a group for reading otherwise will be reading Micheal Foucault’s Friendship as a Way of Life

The text is a transcription of an interview given by the French philospher in 1981 for the magazine Gai Pied.  The text is a well known reference point within queer theory. It outlines some of Foucaults many thoughts on the radical possibilities of friendship through applying a queer lens to look at ideas of intimacy, community, pleasure, gender, and biopolitics. The group meets monthly, providing a supportive peer led space to undertake close readings of texts from philosophy, cultural and critical theory, literature and poetry. The group share opinions, thoughts and reflections arising from readings. The group is free to attend, open to all and meets in person at TACO!
