Overview
Hayward Gallery Chief Curator Rachel Thomas chairs a panel of three artists featured in Dear Earth: Imani Jacqueline Brown, Jenny Kendler and Daiara Tukano.
The conversation digs into the relationship between activism and art making, how the two inform each other, and the boundaries between them.
Imani Jacqueline Brown combines research and art to delve deeper into the economic, social and environmental wrongdoings of extractivism. Her work has been presented internationally, most recently at the 12th Berlin Biennale.
Jenny Kendler is an interdisciplinary ecological artist, environmental activist, naturalist and wild forager especially known for her environmentally-engaged public art projects.
Daiara Tukano is a visual artist, independent communicator, indigenous rights activist and human rights researcher from Brazil. Belonging to the Yepá Mahsã people, also known as Tukano, her artistic practice focuses on their traditions and concepts of spirituality.
