Overview

November 2022 sees the return of Artistiaid Ifainc Cymru – Young Welsh Artists to MOMA Machynlleth. Established in 2020, the annual  exhibition showcases the work of artists under 30 working in Wales.

The third instalment of AIC-YWA introduces eight early-career artists from across Wales, whose disciplines range from ceramics and photography to painting and installations.

Curators Mari Elin Jones and Lloyd Roderick, have been invited back to stage the exhibition for the third year:

Mari Elin Jones is a curator, artist and author interested in all aspects of Welsh culture and the environment. She has worked as an exhibition curator at The National Library of Wales since 2013 and has been key in staging exhibitions such as Distillation (Shani Rhys James, 2015), A Welsh Focus on War and Peace (Philip Jones Griffiths, 2015), Kyffin Williams: Behind the Frame (2018) and Trem/Gaze (National Gallery Masterpiece Tour, 2022).

Lloyd Roderick is a researcher and curator interested in the visual culture of Wales. He has published in O’r Pedwar Gwynt and Art Libraries Journal. He curated his first exhibition, Wales and the Modern Movements Revisited, which looked at modernist practice in Wales in the 20th century at the School of Art, Aberystwyth in summer 2019.
