Jaime Gili: Loop

17 Feb-18 Mar 2022

Cecilia Brunson Projects
London SE1 3GE

Overview

Jaime Gili belongs to a generation of Venezuelan artists who necessarily continue to examine the place of their practice within their inheritance of one of the most interesting Modernist movements in Latin America. Gili has developed a unique style that represents a highly distinctive point of convergence between a specific inherited European modernism interlaced with Venezuela's past historical modernism, and the current affairs.

On February 25th as part of the exhibition at CBP, there will be a performance dedicated to Imagen de Caracas. It will feature multimedia projections across the gallery, with sound and text prepared by Gili in collaboration with Venezuelan video-artist and researcher Iván Candeo.

A booklet with an essay by Adrian Locke, Chief Curator of the Royal Academy of Arts, will be published alongside the exhibition.
