Overview

At one of the most exciting events in the art world in Wales, the second Young Artists Wales exhibition - Young Welsh Artists will showcase the work of artists under the age of 30 working in Wales.

The exhibition will introduce nine early career artists from across Wales whose disciplines range from ceramics and photography to painting and installations.

Two guest curators, Mari Elin Jones and Lloyd Roderick, were invited to stage the exhibition for the second year:

Mari Elin Jones is a curator, artist and writer with an interest in all aspects of Welsh culture and the environment. She has worked as an exhibition curator at the National Library of Wales since 2013 and has been instrumental in staging exhibitions such as Distillation (Shani Rhys James, 2015), A Welsh Focus on War and Peace (Philip Jones Griffiths, 2015), Mametz (Aled Rhys Hughes, 2016) and Kyffin Williams: Behind the Frame (2018).

Lloyd Roderick is a researcher and curator with an interest in the visual culture of Wales. He has published in From the Four Winds and the Art Libraries Journal . He organized his first exhibition, Wales and the Modern Movements Revisited which looked at 20th century modernist practice in Wales at the School of Art, Aberystwyth in the summer of 2019.
