Susana Anágua and Ana Romana are both Portuguese artists with international art practices. They have collaborated on the Matinha project to research the history and subsequent socio-environmental effects of the gasometres built on what was then, farmland. sited on the riverfront in Lisbon. make a site-specific installation in the abandoned gasometers on the riverfront in Lisbon. The aspects of the project which will be shown in the exhibition are a video of the site, with a voice overlay in English giving a rendition of the workers’ stories and events at different times from mid to late 20th century. There are also still images capturing aspects of the site and text - recounting elements of the workers’ stories recorded by the gas company - installed in the ‘domes’ by the artists
