Overview

Oil sketches by British artists from mid-17th to mid-18th century, when ‘plein air’ landscape painting became a phenomenon, including works by artistic rivals Turner and Constable. Shown alongside contemporary work by Dorothy Cross, inspired by nature. A touring exhibition with Compton Verney and Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle in partnership with Tate. Exhibition organised by Compton Verney.
