After the Flash : Photography from the Atomic Archive
10 Oct-20 Dec 2014
Work Gallery

A unique and engaging exploration of how the camera lens has shaped public perceptions of the atomic age and its legacy of anxiety. Drawing on photographs selected from the extensive personal archive of Canadian art historian, writer and curator John O’Brian, After the Flash charts the intertwined histories and technological development of cameras and nuclear science, and questions the role that photography has played in constructing the public image of nuclear energy and “the bomb”.
