XAP : The Psychotropic House
10 Jan-30 Jan 2014

Emerging art collective XAP will create an interactive and multi-sensory installation examining the psychology of space at Yinka Shonibare’s Guest Projects 2014. Inspired by the dystopian vision of author J.G. Ballard, the bizarrely playful house mixes traditional art media with interactive technology to create the interior of a house that responds to your presence. A responsive lounge reacts to touch, walls drift, portraits whisper, a projected stairwell burrows into the floor, paintings become performance. Supporting programmes include: ‘Meet the House’ family drawing workshop, Symposium and an Open Day for the visually impaired. XAP are: Anya Charikov-Mickleburgh, Laura Dekker, Sue Douglass, Teague Flannery, Jody Gilby, Alison Griffin, Ute Kirkwood, Ana Oak Malofy-Medwed, Angela Mellen, Liz Sergeant and Dina Varpahovsky.See http://www.psychotropichouse.com for details. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
