RACHEL ADAMS : HOW TO LIVE IN A FLAT

12 May-15 Jun 2014

The Tetley
Leeds LS10 1JQ

Overview

Expanding upon her interest in modernist furniture design, the artist will show a series of new sculptural works which examine the motifs and contradictions of the highly functional furniture design of the 1930s, the era from which The Tetley building dates. Adams lives and works in Glasgow and this is her first solo show in a large-scale institution in the UK. Adams will ‘move-in’ to her exhibition space between the 12th of May, returning at weekends throughout the project to ‘re-arrange’ the show, adding and removing artworks as she deciphers how best to inhabit the exhibition space. Guest artists will also be invited by Adams to re-design, animate and ‘live’ in the exhibition space over the course of the project.
