Inherent Sin by Gary O'Connor

22 Nov-15 Dec 2009

Northcabin

Overview

Gary O’Connor began researching the history of Redcliffe Bridge and surrounding area discovering that the bridge was built at the outbreak of the Second World War and survived whilst Bristol was heavily bombed. From this initial research O’Connor has gone on to write a short piece of prose that forms the backbone of the project, expanding into the physical installation inside the cabin: "The more I contemplate the cabin, the bridge, and the dark murky waters below; the more it conjures up thoughts of intrigue, suspense and mystery". O’Connor’s aim is to introduce a sense of theatre into the space, whilst at the same time explore its historical context and its relationship to the surrounding landscape.
