Overview

Icara,Icara is a reworking of the Icarus myth from the point of view of a suburban woman. The stages of Imprisonment, flight and fall are seen as a cyclical metaphor for the mechanism of her increasing self-awareness. The darkened gallery space, housing a double-screen video projection and a mirror, will immerse the visitor. The disorientated visitor will not only watch but participate at the same time. This dual viewpoint is echoed in the partly autobiographical video of Icara, subject and object, who sees and is seen.
