George Eksts : Development Heaven

20 Mar-9 May 2015

Overview

George Eksts uses video, sound photography, drawing and sculpture to explore ideas of progress, completion, time and the temporary. His ongoing series of 'Endless Videos' are explorations challenging the linear historical structure of traditional filmmaking. Bereft of narrative and taking repetition to extremes, they question human and technological advancement and notions of completion and permanence. Eksts’ work with its emphasis on repetition, deconstruction and the incomplete is an inversion of the term ‘Development Hell’ used when film production becomes mired in endless edits and rewrites, hence the title Development Heaven. The exhibition includes a wall drawing – created with VHS tape which (in a reversal of the idea of a ‘work in progress’) will be deconstructed, and become less incomplete as the show progresses, a new sound installation a variety of sculptural video pieces and large format digital prints. www.eksts.com
