Paul Westcombe : A soul twirler booms trout wet

18 Feb-8 Mar 2019

Wimbledon Space
London SW19 3QA

Overview

Paul Westcombe presents 'A soul twirler booms trout wet', an experimental wall-drawing and painting installation with theatrical elements, in collaboration with Katrina Sheppeard (Dramatic Soprano) and students from Wimbledon Fine Art and Theatre courses. Using the architecture and idiosyncrasy of the exhibition space, the artist will create visual and conceptual vistas based on the writings of Raymond Roussel (particularly Locus Solus), and his disastrous theatre productions. Black portals, fragmentated body-architecture hybrids; the space will be transformed into a fantastical, grotesque and phantasmagorical space – a complex mechanism of desire. This is the third exhibition in Wimbledon Space’s year of PORTAL themed projects.
