Dr Dan Byrne-Smith & Amy Butt : Future Impermanent

15 Jan 2020

Wimbledon Space
London SW19 3QA

Overview

Exploring speculative methods of facilitating engagement, agency and a sense of responsibility regarding the issue of human impact on the natural world, this event will be an opportunity to experiment with science fiction as a method of reading the social and environmental demands of the future. These speculations and experiments will also emphasise the importance of seeing science fiction as being grounded in the challenges of the present moment, while rendering that present impermanent. This day-long event is coordinated by Amy Butt, Lecturer in Architecture at Reading University, and Dr Dan Byrne-Smith, Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Theory at Chelsea College of Arts. Further details and booking info available soon. An installation of material relating to the day will continue in the gallery until 28 January.
