CLAIRE BARCLAY

25 Nov 2015-30 Jan 2016

Stephen Friedman Gallery
London W1S 3LQ

Overview

In Gallery Two, Stephen Friedman Gallery is delighted to present a solo exhibition of work by Scottish artist Claire Barclay. A graduate from the Glasgow School of Art, Barclay is renowned for her sculptural practice and particularly large, site specific installations which juxtapose refined items and materials such as leather, metal, fabric, wool and ceramics. While inherently abstract, her sculptures and prints have an intimate anthropology in their familiar colours, shapes and forms. This is the artist's third exhibition at the gallery and follows from major presentations at Generation: 25 Years of Contemporary Art in Scotland, Edinburgh (2015); the Vienna Biennale 2015; Camden Arts Centre (2008) and Tate Britain (2005).
