TRISHA DONNELLY

17 Sep-9 Nov 2014

Serpentine
London W2 3XA (Serpentine South), W2 2AR (Serpentine North)

Overview

Trisha Donnelly is an American conceptual and performance artist working and living in New York. Through her dynamic use of materials and processes, Donnelly seeks to challenge conventional understandings of art and exhibition-making and explores the physical relationships between the artwork and the gallery space. She intentionally complicates the way we typically apprehend and classify a work of art in order to change and fundamentally enhance how we experience it. First sparked by her participation in the Serpentine’s group show, Uncertain States of America, in 2006, the exhibition this autumn is Donnelly’s first solo show in a London public gallery. It will highlight the diversity of her oeuvre and transform the Serpentine Gallery’s spaces through the use of objects and interventions.
