Overview

A major exhibition curated in partnership with London-based bo.lee projects, which brings together a select group of painters, sculptors and photographers from the UK and USA whose work explores what defines an individual’s sense of ‘self’. The exhibition includes works by great 20th century figures such as Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon, famed for their brutal exposure of the individual psyche, and presents these alongside work by artists who offer an alternative to contemporary portraiture – one which acknowledges, yet refuses, the freak show of difference.
