Sam Laughlin : Untitled

Overview

Sam Laughlin’s (b. 1990) photographic practice is concerned with the state of the natural and manmade world, and our place within it. His photographs focus on patterns of animals’ behaviour in close observation, revealing natural signs and residue that suggests their presence in the landscape. This process allows the viewer to experience intimate and fragile spaces that exclude human presence. In 2015 Laughlin was invited to create a series of documentary photographs that record the underlying fabric of our new Gallery during the construction process. Untitled records Laughlin’s encounters with temporary situations within the site, some incidental, others he arranged himself as interventions.
