Felix Murphy (b. 2004, Liverpool) is a London-based artist working between painting, relief and sculpture. He works until form coheres on its own terms through sealing, and scraping, building and undoing layers so an image appears embedded rather than placed. Colour stays in a narrow band while the material handling can be excessive, layering and compressing the surface until it holds. The works aim for bodily presence, vulnerable and coherent, where the theme of loss is demonstrated through occlusion instead of declaration.
